In February 2003 over 20,000 adventure travelers and outdoor
enthusiasts will gather in Chicago for the International
Travel and Outdoor Sports show. Over the past three years, the
adventure racing segment of the show has grown in scope and is the highlight of
The program includes an adventure racing industry summit, trade
professional & public EXPO, public adventure racing seminars, two days
of adventure racing and much more.
Leading race management companies from around the world will be there
to promote their races. Top athletes will be presenting at public
seminars. Adventure Racers from across the country will have the
opportunity to chat one on one with top racers an race directors. And
to top it all off, there will be two days of authentic adventure
racing with great prizes for nearly all who participate.
The adventure racing community is encouraged to spread the word to
potential exhibitors, sponsors, racers and AR related organizations.

Adventure Racing Program Summary
INDUSTRY SUMMIT: On Friday February 21st, top racers, race
directors, sports marketers, media experts and government agency
representatives will present a series of seminars and discussion
panels. Attendance will be limited to industry professionals.
EXPO: Over 450 exhibitors from around the world will promote their
organization to some 5000 trade professionals and 20,000 public
attendees. Adventure Race related companies will be group together in
the Adventure Racing Pavilion.
*Trade Only Expo: Friday afternoon of February 21st trade
professionals will have exclusive access to the trade show floor.
*Public Expo: Starting Friday evening February 21st – Sunday evening
February 23, the show floor will be open to the public.
IATOS ADVENTURE RACE: On both Saturday and Sunday, an authentic
sprint distance adventure race will take place on the show floor and
outside in the environment near Navy Pier area. A huge space located
within the Adventure Racing Pavilion on the show floor has been set
aside and will contain numerous obstacles, special tests and
challenges to be used in the race (Adventure Challenge Course). This
space will also serve as a transition area for the race and will be
flanked by spectator facilities. Because of the excitement of the
race, and the shear dominance of the space, the Adventure Race
Pavilion promises to draw the lion's share of attendees. Visit
ADVENTURE CHALLENGE COURSE: During non-race hours, the challenges
and obstacles will be open to the public as an interactive exhibit.
This will further enhance the traffic in the Adventure Race Pavilion.
PUBLIC SEMINARS: Saturday and Sunday high profile racers will be
giving adventure race related presentation to the public.
SPECIAL MEDIA EVENTS: The IATOS show has long been a favorite of
both National and Local TV morning and news programs as well as host
to talk radio programs. Over the past two years, the Adventure Racing
segment of the show has attracted much of the media's attention.
SOCIAL: Several special functions are planned where Adventure Racing
Industry professionals can interact to network.
